Let's Never Stop Falling In Love

Cherie Amour is coming along very nicely! So far, I've practically knit a halter top. I love the rusty color and the lace pattern and overall the promise of how it'll turn out. One pattern alteration that I did was that I knit four rows in lace pattern 2 before beginning the neckline. The right and left fronts are a little annoying because the pattern does not spell them out for me, so I had to do some calculations (aargh...brains!). So, that's where I am now. Here's a photo of it that I took while I was ribbing. I just loved the way that it layed out flat. I might make a doile out of the same lace...haha. Or not.
When I was getting that picture, I also remembered that I knit a hat that I semi-designed on my own. I used some leftover yarn from the hat I made for Joe last year in Austria. The lace pattern is called "Ravelling Leaves" from volume one of Vogue Knitting's Stitchionary. Here it is, modelled by my lovely little sister.

I just bought a sweater (some assembly required)

Dear Diary,

I finished one of the Sodera Socks, but it didn't quite fit over my fat little calf, so I'm giving them to my littls sister in the end. However, since they aren't working out for me very well, I decided to get going on the Cherie Amour sweater from Knitty. So far, I've purchased some yarn that looks like this:
I'm so excited for it to get here and to cast on! I haven't knit a sweater in forever and I am really stoked.

A Knitting Dilemma

My Ravelry queue keeps calling my name and I am almost done with one Sodera Sock. My problem now is, should I put the socks into hibernation and finally start on Cherie Amour. Both projects are lace and a little complicated. It's not like I could use one as a break from the other. However, I am really getting antsy to start on the colorful Cherie Amour, in opposition to my white (but very sexy) Sodera.

I think that I may order the yarn for Cherie Amour and get going. It's a bulky yarn and supposidly a pretty quick knit. The question now is, which color should I go with? I love starting new projects.

Gift Giving

I love to knit gifts for my friends and family. In fact, this Christmas I knit several simple but cute hats for gifts. The only thing that kind of sucks about knitting gifts is that people lose them. I knit my little sister this:

in white with the intention of putting a pretty pink ribbon through the holes. A few months later, I was helping her clean her room and found it at the bottom of the closet, completely covered with dust and grime. She is a messy kid and her room is in a constant state of chaos, but it still hurt my feelings a little bit.
I also knit my mom this:

in nice, expensive wool.

Yeah...she lost that, too...

The moral of the story? I am only going to knit for me, unless the recipient proves themselves worthy or it's something I would never wear myself. Haha.

Let's Start at the Very Beginning...

Well, it didn't occur to me to make a blog that to record my knitting projects and whatnot, and to be honest, my knitting is mediocore at best. However, I figured that I would publish a few, here and there in order to record my progress and whatnot. For this first blog, I will copy/paste a few of my knitting themed blogs from the past in order to organize them a little better.

This is what I get for drinking a gigantic coffee first thing in the morning. Whose feeling productive? THIS GUY!

May 24, 2008:

Hey everyone! It has been a REALLY long time since I've posted...well...anything...so I decided that I wanted to share my brand new FO! It's the Adults Only hat from Stitch n Bitch I actually started about two years ago, when I had just started knitting. I dug it out of my drawer the other day and FINALLY finished it...except I decided to make only one pointy. It looks adorable on my sister, and she's requested that I make her one with two devil horns instead of my "nipple". It's jut knit with cheap Red Heart yarn, if I remember correctly. Sorry the photo is goofy. I have a hard time taking myself super seriously while wearing this particular hat.
